Hi Michae,
My Dell Laptop Screen Keeps Turning Off
This issue might occur if the power plan is not configured correctly. I would suggest you to restore default settings for the power plan and then change the settings.
Method 1:
Step A:
To restore default settings for a power plan, follow these steps:
a.Go to the Start screen.
b.Type “Power” without quotes and click on Power Options from the list of results.
c.Click on Change plan settings next to the power plan selected.
d.Click on Restore default settings for this plan.
e.This will restore the power plan to its default settings.
Step B:
Try to set the power plan settings and make sure you select Never for Turn off the display and Put the computer to Sleep.
Stop chrome from opening last session. Jul 08, 2018 I can't permanently stop Edge from opening the last session when I have set it up to open on a specific page. This only happens the first time it is used after booting the computer. Second and subsequent use of Edge result in it opening on the home page a.

If the issue is not resolved, try creating a new power plan and check if it works. Refer to the link for more information:

Hi all
My laptop screen keeps turning off but the laptop is still on. There is still light on the screen but it's all black. To fix it I normally just turn off the display using fn+F8 and turn it back on by moving the mouse. And it comes back up. But if I open any applications e.g. Google Chrome It will turn off and keep turning off in seconds everytime I put it back up. If no applications are open its all fine. But when I open an application it goes all black. I've been told to remove charger and battery and hold the power button. But my Asus n series doesn't allow you to remove the battery. Please help Thank you
In power options the monitor is configured to turn off (go to power saving mode) after 10 minutes of inactivity. The problem is it also turns itself off when I watch long YouTube videos in full screen.
I like power saving, so the default behavior is OK, but it shouldn't kick in when I watch fullscreen videos.
Is there a way to fix it?

But there is a workaround:
Make sure you use the Zen Jiggle mode to avoid any onscreen interference with your viewing pleasure.

Actually the software CAN ask windows to turn power saving off. Thats how media players do it. Kazefuri douluo dalu season 2 episode 15. But when you watch youtube or other flash videos it is the browser that's running, nothing else. There is a flash plugin but this is a plugin, it only has access to the same things the browser has. If the browser does not provide access to power saving management the plugin can't access it. So the only way for that to be solved would be that browsers could have a new feature that would disable power saving when you visit some certain sites or has the ability to manage power saving and somehow passes that access to third party plugins. I don't see there is another way. or, you could go to the start menu and click on power options (search it) and then once your in you can click on a thing that let's you change how long until the computer goes into sleep mode.

I suspect there's some arcane reason that apps don't inherently have access to the power-saving settings, or it'd be a big no-brainer for Windows Media Player to have a 'disable power saving' switch.
The best workaround I can think of is to set up 2 power-profile shortcuts, and remember to swap between them before & after watching video. It's hack, but it should work. Now all I need to do is figure out how to kick this in from across the network, when we're streaming from the DVR. ;)

Maybe it depends on the browser and the operating system, but I can tell you that using Firefox 32.0.1 in Windows 7 64-bit, whenever a sound is played by the Flash plugin, it prevents the display from turning off. This can be seen by running
powercfg -requests while a sound is playing (run cmd.exe as an administrator before typing the command):
Two things are shown in this example output. It's the firefox.exe process under
DISPLAY: that is preventing the display from turning off. The sound playing through the audio driver prevents the system from going to sleep.
I consider Firefox's behavior undesirable, as I seldom watch long YouTube videos, and I don't want every message notification from Facebook Chat to turn my screen on. The behavior can be changed by using a
powercfg -REQUESTSOVERRIDE command, like this:
Type
powercfg /? for help.

Toshiba laptop touchpad not working windows 8. Disable this 'power saving feature' as it becomes counter productive whenever it turns off your displays while you're in the middle of watching a video/movie. Instead turn off your monitor and other displays using the power button on the display whenever you go AFK.

Maybe power saving looks for apps running in full screen mode but does not find any, because it's only the plug-in that's in full screen. Can you try setting the display mode of the browser to full screen (not maximized) before playing the video und check what happens then? Both Firefox and IE have full screen display modes.

You could also a small utility called Full Throttle Override to automatically switch power plans whenever the Flash Player (or your favorite video player) is launched. (I added
FlashPlayerPlugin_16_0_0_296.exe , for example).
You just have to make sure to set
Turn off the display to Never in your High performance power plan. (Unfortunately the app doesn't support to switch to a specified power plan other than High performance )
I had a short test run using mplayer.exe and the utility successfully switched to
High performance and back to my default power plan while having a memory footprint of about 9.3MB (on Windows 8.1 x64)

I just got this new laptop ASUS N56VZ, which has a rather strange feature. If I press fn+f7 to turn off the screen, it will be turned on by any mouse/keyboard event. If it's not a big problem itself(while never happened to my old laptops, and I don't like it at all), the most annoying part is that the screen always turns itself on right after I turn it off. And unplugging my mouse do solve the problem. I'm wondering if it's possible to disable this 'feature'? 'Allow the device to wake up the computer' in hardware settings of the mouse doesn't help(But my mouse does not wake up the system from sleep automatically, very strange). It's using Windows 8.

The problem might just be that your mouse is very sensitive and when it detects even the slightest jitter, your laptop then wakes up. Try making absolutely sure that your mouse is not moving at all - even a tenth of a millimeter! If in fact your screen does still turn on, your only recourse will probably be to turn off your mouse if it's wireless or unplug it if it's not.
Disabling 'Allow the device to wake this computer' won't do anything, because this feature is not actually managed by Windows. It's managed by your computer hardware at a baser level. It's more like when a monitor on a desktop goes to sleep (yellow light) and turns back on when any input is given.

It's also possible that the trackpad is receiving input, make sure it's clean.
Perhapse get a mouse-bungie like gamers use, if the mouse is moving slowly or slightly because the cord has a springy effect or tension from hanging off the edge of the desk, its possible that it's moving indetectably slowly or slightly.
This used to wake my computer immediately after 'sleep-display' as well.

Oh My friend I just found it now, if it constantly turns the Display on after fn+f7 go to your 'power4gear hybrid' settings and from the last menu named 'Enable/Disable' turn off Presentation mode. That would definitely solve the problem.
